Especially the countryside ones, are characterized by prodigius genius loci. After dozen of years they were subject of devastation for a variety of reasons and impacts, nevertheless the magical atmosphere still have remain with them. They were impenetrable groved over by bushes and trees, they was misused occasionally as a dump, they were used as cheap resource of stones to building's foundations, in better case as resource of tombstones for other cemeteries, they were object and target of various creative activities for the shortening of leisure time.
At least since WWII no one cared about majority of cemeteries, becouse there was no one to care about them. And non Jewish neiboroughs mainly don't care about them. With few exceptions where could be marked the care which some individuals have gave them whole 40 years of communism, contrary to press of local authority and local party small big guns, who in order to official doctrine about malignancy of sionism would like erase remembrances of dissappeared fellow citizens, their ancestors together at same place several centuries had lived with.
At present time Jewish community try cemeteries introduce into dignified condition. It goes better in towns, but also at countryside the progress could be marked. Even that just these countryside cemeteries keep still the one and only magic of Golem's mysterium.
